About Evan
I am an undergraduate and graduate-level teaching assistant and lecturer at Massey University.
I have multiple years of 1 on 1 tutoring experience for students from high school to undergraduate and graduate school levels.
I have a BA in general psychology and a MA in clinical psychology from The New School for Social Research in New York City. I have accumulated over 2000 supervised hours of clinical psychology practice within a range of clinical settings such as community mental health, a psychiatric hospital setting specializing in addiction treatment, and a clinical college counseling center. I specialized in evidence-based and psychodynamic treatment modalities (i.e., internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy).
I am currently a Ph.D. student in Social Psychology at Massey University in Auckland. I have published multiple articles in international peer-reviewed journals covering the topics of global mental health, social and cross-cultural psychology, as well as intergroup relations.
I can provide a range of psychological or statistical-focused lessons that include hands-on instruction using statistical software.

I use a person-centered approach when working with a student. The lesson plan starts with topics the student is comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds.
I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorize things - we create a knowledge foundation that can be built upon. My lessons can be tailored for many educational levels ranging from high school to the graduate level.
I can teach topics that cover areas such as clinical, social, political, and cross-cultural psychology.
If a student is interested, I can also provide statistical and research method consultations and sessions supplemented with R/RStudio statistical software lessons.
