About Mary
I'm Mary, a final year Sociology student at the University of Wariwick. I love reading and writing and hope to get into marketing, journalism and media after graduating. Although I have no formal experience tutoring I have no doubt I have what it takes to be an amazing tutour as I have helped my younger sister and her friends through their GCSE'S and A-levels in the past, and have experience with drafting successful personal statements and applications.
I am a hardworking, resourceful and punctual person, skills I have built not only through my time in education but also through my experience working in retail and hospitality alongside my studies. As a result I have become a great multi tasker and highly organised in general, skills I'm sure are invaluable especially within this role.
My favourite subjects were always essay based, English being my strong suit as I have always loved to read, and enjoyed the fact I could get creative with the content in exam conditions. I am also into humanities and social sciences such as Sociology and Psychology as I love the research aspect to them and the way content can always be applied to real life making studying much more interactive.
My teaching style incorporates both these things: creativity and application - making studying less of a chore and more of an activity for students as that is always how I have looked at it. Joining theories and concepts together and drawing comparisons between them and situations the student is familiar with or can relate to can make it easier to recall such information in exam conditions.
