About Ellee

I’m Ellee Achten, founder of The Rooted Voice, and I’ve been guiding singers for over 20 years. With 8 years of formal training and 13 years of performance experience across pop, jazz, classical, folk, and even punk, I bring a deep understanding of both technique and artistry.

My teaching centers on somatic voice work, integrating formal vocal techniques with body awareness, breath cycling, and nervous system regulation to help students fully embody their sound. Using tools from somatic experiencing, I guide singers to release tension, access natural resonance, and cultivate intuitive diaphragmatic breathing. Each lesson is an opportunity to explore vocal freedom in a way that is deeply personal, grounded in the body, and expressive of your authentic self. “Your body knows how to sing!”

to seeing Ellee but their more traditional methods were not producing the results I was looking for.
But after lessons with Ellee I quickly saw results!
