About Frances
Frances Hope is a singer-songwriter, natural performer, poet, multi-instrumentalist and indie-folk artist from Victoria, BC. Her music is inspired by early Joni Mitchell, Don McLean, Gordon Lightfoot, remnants of Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, Birdy, and Brandi Carlile. She is an advocate for mental health, as her own struggles led her to begin songwriting to process and heal her own emotional wounds. Little did she know, that her words would touch others relating to similar experiences, and shining a light on universal themes of vulnerability, mental health and healing have become one of her raisons d'être. Her budding music career began to push off when she was a contestant on Season 8 of a Canadian singing competition called Sing For the Shot: Remastered, and won a Battle of the Bands competition to take main stage at the Dragon Boat Festival in Victoria last summer, and has recently made her debut at Hermann’s Jazz Club, local restaurants and cafes, and various radio stations. She has released a debut EP album, and two self-created/mixed singles, and received second place in a global songwriting competition out of Nashville, TN. Her music is an eclectic combination of sweetness and grit, and her sound has been characterized as "edgy ethereal" and “intimate and touching with subtle and emotional insight.” She has been featured in some of the best Canadian blogs, magazines, and news outlets, such as Tinnitist, Canadian Beats, Cashbox Canada, and has been featured in Record World International, the second oldest music media outlet in the States. "A poet, lyricist, instrumentalist, and vocalist, she has defined her place in the musical landscape, bringing an edge of grit to vulnerability, and remaining wholly authentic." - Tinnitist She is presently teaching a virtual songwriting class for youth and adults dealing with trauma and is currently releasing her second EP album, titled Lifeline. Her songs, Mistaken Identity, Stay, Warzone, and Wanderer have been recently played on both Indie 101.5 FM and Unsigned BC multiple times (CFRO 100.5 FM radio). Her second EP is presently being released one song per month, and she is about to embark on a third EP, recorded live off the floor, paying homage to a more minimal, alternative blues-folk vibe. You can find her music on all streaming platforms.
