About Alyssa
Hi! My name is Alyssa Sturm. I am confident I can teach English thoroughly and break it down to help my students understand. I am a funny and kind tutor, as well as serious to help the students stay engaged and focused. I am great with kids and can adapt my abilities well to suit each child in a way that fits them best. My favorite color is pink and I love to keep things organized. I will bring snacks for my kids and make them feel safe and comfortable with me. I will make sure to not make these kids feel dumb for needing tutoring because I know how it feels and I know these kids are not dumb. They just need a little extra help, and that's okay. I will care for these kids and treat them as I would want to be treated, and help them to the very best of my abilities. I will tutor them as long as they need even if that means 4+ hours. These kids will be my top priority whenever they need me and I'm willing to set things aside to help them with anything.

My teaching method is to reteach what they're confused about, and go slowly at the parts that are taking them for a whirl. I will create papers and PowerPoint slides to help further teach and engrave the knowledge into their head. I will be nice and funny to keep them focused and into the tutoring session, but also be serious for them to learn and get their work done. A typical lesson plan for me would start off with a short assessment to see where this student is at and where they need the most help. I then will break down said areas into simpler explanations to help the student understand. After this, I will give them a worksheet to show what the student has learned and finish off with complimenting them for their hard work and going over things they are still confused about. I am very organized and capable of doing this to fit each student per what they need. I can teach any student in English starting from K-9th grade. English is my best subject and I am confident in my abilities to help kids out with it. I can teach all the way through Honors English 2, which I have maintained an A in all school year so far. I am a fun and outgoing teacher. I will bring snacks to each session!! I am great with kids of all ages.
