About Luna

Hi! I’m Luna, a native Chilean Spanish speaker, biologist, environmental educator and lifelong learner.

I believe the best way to learn a language is to actually use it — to talk about your day, your interests, your work, your travels, your favorite things, or even something as specific as science and nature.

I’m originally from Chile, but I have also lived in Melbourne, Australia for 9 years, and I now live in New Zealand. Living abroad has given me a deep appreciation for language, culture and the different ways people communicate. It has also helped me understand what it feels like to adapt to a new country and communicate in another language.

My background is quite diverse. I have spent more than 8 years working in environmental education and community engagement, teaching people of different ages and backgrounds. I have also worked for many years in hospitality, where I trained complete beginners and helped them become confident bartenders and venue managers. So, I’m very used to explaining things clearly, adapting to different learning styles and helping people build confidence from the ground up.

I want to teach Spanish because I love my language, my culture and the richness of Latin American Spanish. I especially enjoy showing students that Spanish is much more than grammar and vocabulary — it is a way of connecting with people and understanding another culture.

Whether you are starting from zero, want to feel more confident speaking, are preparing for a trip, need Spanish for work or study, or simply want to explore a particular interest in Spanish, I’ll adapt the lessons to you.

About the lesson

My teaching approach starts with everyday Spanish and real-life situations, creating a practical and comfortable way to learn from the beginning. From there, lessons can be adapted to each student’s interests and goals, whether that means conversation, travel, work, study, science, environmental topics or any other area you would like to explore.

I am a native Chilean Spanish speaker with more than 8 years of experience in environmental education and community engagement, where I taught people from different backgrounds and age groups about biodiversity, conservation and environmental science.

I also have extensive experience in hospitality, where I trained people with no previous experience and helped them develop the practical skills and confidence to become excellent bartenders and venue administrators. This experience taught me how to explain things clearly, adapt my teaching style to different learners and build confidence step by step.

Lessons are 45 minutes long and are suitable for all ages and levels, from complete beginners to more advanced students.

My goal is for you to learn Spanish that you can actually use, while adapting each lesson to your interests, needs and personal goals.
