About Claudia

I was born in Mexico City, Mexico, where I completed elementary school before moving to California for middle school and high school. Growing up between Mexico and the United States helped me develop a deep appreciation for both cultures and the importance of communication.

When my children were young, I looked for a career that offered flexibility for my family. That journey led me to medical interpreting, a profession I have been proud to pursue for more than 18 years. I have worked in hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, labor and delivery, and law firms. For the past 13 years, I have also specialized in workers’ compensation as a medical interpreter.

My work has allowed me to help people communicate during important moments in their lives and has taught me the value of patience, understanding, and clear communication. I bring these qualities to my Spanish lessons, creating a welcoming environment where students can feel comfortable practicing and learning.

Outside of work, I enjoy Zumba, yoga, walking in parks and mountains, and watching beautiful sunsets. Music is another passion of mine! I love 90s and 2000s Rock en Español, especially Maná, as well as salsa, bachata, reggaeton, and romantic music. I also enjoy Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, and Coldplay.

I love playing board games such as UNO, Phase 10, and Scrabble, too. I believe learning should be enjoyable, interactive, and connected to real life.

I look forward to sharing my language, culture, and experiences with students and helping them feel more confident communicating in Spanish!

About the lesson

My Spanish lessons are practical, personalized, and focused on helping you speak with confidence in real-life situations!

I am a native Spanish speaker with over 18 years of professional interpreting experience in hospitals, emergency rooms, labor and delivery, law firms, and workers’ compensation cases.

I work with students, teens, and adults who want to improve their Spanish for school, travel, work, or everyday conversations.

For teens and students, we can practice introducing yourself, starting conversations, making friends, talking with classmates, texting in Spanish, and even dating or romantic conversations using age-appropriate language. My goal is to help you feel comfortable meeting new people and expressing yourself naturally in Spanish.

Lessons can include conversation practice, pronunciation, useful vocabulary, role-playing, and situations based on your interests and goals. I adapt each lesson to your Spanish level and learning style.

For adults, I also offer conversational and professional Spanish practice, drawing on my extensive interpreting background.

My teaching style is friendly, patient, and encouraging. You will have opportunities to practice speaking, make mistakes without feeling embarrassed, and build confidence one conversation at a time.

Whether you are a beginner or want to improve your existing Spanish, I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
