About Oliva

I came to New Zealand from Madrid looking for adventures and a whole different landscape. After some months of hard work and traveling, I’m currently living in Wellington.
I’ve always loved literature, that’s why I chose my degree when I was younger, and then I discovered that I really enjoyed learning new languages, so I thought “Why don’t teach my own language?” I found out that I really enjoy teaching because I love the connections that are made between teacher and student and seeing how something suddenly clicks for your student, or when they become more confident expressing themselves in another language; it’s just a wonderful feeling and I felt it too when I studied another language! I also think that learning a new language is the best way to discover a culture and a different way of looking at the world.
Since moving to New Zealand, I’m really excited to meet people from different backgrounds and continue doing something I genuinely enjoy. I’d love to help you learn Spanish in a relaxed and friendly environment where you can feel comfortable making mistakes, finding your own way to learn and, most important, actually enjoying the process!

About the lesson

Hi everyone! I’m Oliva, I’ve recently moved to Wellington and I’m really excited to continue teaching Spanish and gain more experience here plus meeting you lovely New Zealanders.
I like my classes to be relaxed, dynamic and, above all, tailored to each student. I like finding a balance between using a textbook when it’s useful, while also leaving plenty of room for conversation, interesting topics and fun resources. For me, learning a language should feel fun and useful, not like a chore!
I’d love to help you feel more confident speaking Spanish and make the learning process something you actually look forward to :)
