About Olivia

I am a Modern Languages graduate from the University of Leicester with a year abroad in Spain and Italy, where I studied at the University of Sevilla and the University of Pisa. These experiences gave me a strong academic foundation in both Spanish and Italian, as well as a deep understanding of how languages are used in real-life contexts.

I have several years of tutoring experience supporting a wide range of learners, including primary school pupils, GCSE students, and adult learners. I specialise in helping students build confidence, improve their exam performance, and develop practical communication skills.

I am friendly, patient, and supportive in my teaching style, and I aim to create a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. Lessons are always tailored to the individual, focusing on each student’s goals, whether that is improving grades, preparing for exams, or learning a language for travel or personal interest.

I am particularly experienced in GCSE Spanish, as well as beginner and GCSE-level Italian.

About the lesson

I take a structured but flexible approach to tutoring, adapting each lesson to the individual student’s goals, learning style, and confidence level. My focus is on building strong foundations in grammar and vocabulary while also developing practical speaking skills, so students can use the language confidently in real-life situations as well as in exams.

I use a mix of techniques including guided conversation practice, interactive activities, exam-style questions (if relevant), and targeted grammar explanations. I also place a strong emphasis on repetition and active recall to help students retain what they learn long-term. Lessons are always supportive and encouraging, with plenty of opportunity for questions and practice without pressure.

Typical lessons last 60 minutes, although 30 or 45-minute sessions are also available for younger students or those who prefer shorter, more frequent input.

My lessons are suitable for primary school pupils, secondary school students (including GCSE), and adult learners. I teach complete beginners through to intermediate level, with a particular focus on GCSE Spanish and beginner GCSE/Italian learners.
