About Graham

My history with the Spanish language (Castellano) is far from typical! Though I'm not a native speaker, I'm often mistaken for one.

5 years ago, shortly before turning 17, I decided to learn Spanish. Every week, for 2 hours weekly, I would sit with my tutor, a Guatemalan named Ane, and practice grammar and conversation. Instantly after the first lesson, I knew that this was right for me.

While I wasn't at Ane's studying, I was filling as much of my life as possible with Spanish! Everything in my house had a Spanish name tag, I started buying Spanish books, Netflix was in Spanish. It was as close to living in a Spanish-speaking country as possible.

Shortly after turning 18, I travelled to Spain to spend the summer as an au pair. What was supposed to be a 2-month trip turned into a 3-year adventure of bouncing between the USA and Spain!

I attended a Spanish school while living in Seville, where I reached C1 fluency.

Though I now live in the USA, I travel to Spain as much as possible, and in my heart, I'll always carry Spain and European Spanish!
