About Elena
Hello! My name is Elena, and I am an experienced educator with a background in middle school math, science, and special education. My first year teaching, I worked as a 6th grade math and science teacher, where I developed a passion for helping students build confidence in subjects that can sometimes feel challenging or overwhelming.
I currently work as an Instructional Assistant supporting students with diverse learning needs, including students with autism and communication challenges. I am also completing my Special Education credential program at National University, where I continue learning strategies to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
I believe every student is capable of growth when they feel supported, understood, and encouraged. My goal as a tutor is to create a positive learning experience where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and developing skills that will help them succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

My lessons are designed to help students feel confident, supported, and successful in math. As a former 6th grade math and science teacher, I understand that many students struggle not because they cannot learn, but because they need concepts explained in a way that matches their learning style. I use patience, encouragement, step-by-step instruction, and real-world examples to make math easier to understand and less overwhelming.
I also have experience working in special education settings and supporting students with autism, behavioral challenges, and diverse learning needs. Because of this, I know how important it is to create a calm and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
A typical lesson includes reviewing previous skills, guided practice, problem-solving strategies, and independent practice with support as needed. My goal is not only to improve grades and understanding, but also to help students build confidence and develop a more positive relationship with math.
