About Samantha
After my first year of teaching, it was clear that I had a deep connection and love for students who are in the special education setting. Teaching them comes naturally to me and gives me a deep sense of personal satisfaction. Undeniably, watching students make improvements and sharing positive praise with parents are my most rewarding moments of teaching. My experience as a Special Education Teacher is what will ensure my success in this position. I have worked with a diverse range of emotional, physical, and cultural backgrounds. More importantly, because of my history in the classroom, I have experience forming a connection with families as well. Not only am I able to be emotionally invested in students, I am able to take a step back and have a proactive and pragmatic approach to solving problems with the students, my colleagues, and parents. I am a true lifelong learner and enjoy becoming involved in the school community as a whole. I have had the pleasure of working with several teams in my current district, helping improve practices through the utilization of PBIS, MTSS, and RTI. I have also participated in several learning opportunities throughout my time at this district in order to improve my teaching. I am a graduate of Dakota State University in South Dakota. I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and Special Education. During this time, I spoke at the undergraduate commencement during graduation. I then started my Master's in Educational Technology through DSU right after I graduated. I completed that degree in 2019. During this time, I was a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant. Outside of the school setting, I love to play games and I am constantly wanting to learn something new. Right now, I am taking some courses on American Sign Language and Mandarin. I love learning new things and expanding my experience! In my spare time, I love to create! I enjoy drawing, painting, and doing DIY projects. I also love playing video games on a variety of consoles and reading a variety of different books. I also foster cats and volunteer with a cat rescue organization! It is one of my favorite things I do- feel free to ask me about it! I hope that this explains a little bit about me! I am so excited to get to work with your student and form a relationship with you as well! As Spock would say, "Live Long and Prosper"!

I am willing and able to tutor in the areas of English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Behavior, Executive Functioning, Grammar, and Spelling. I especially enjoy teaching Reading, Grammar, and Social Studies. Those are large interests of mine and I find a great deal of fulfillment in those areas.
