About Ian

I'm a partly retired teacher who has enjoyed a wonderful career in education. This has taken me to different schools (state and private), different states, and even to different nations. I've worked with primary students and university (and TAFE) students but most of my career I have taught Secondary students, mostly in English but also in History, Geography, HPE, Math and Religion. I am still very sporty, enjoying competition tennis and hockey currently, but many sports over the years. I have now started an organic market garden but I am keen to maintain some teaching and would love to help you. My qualifications are extensive, as is my experience which I would be happy to elaborate on if requested.

About the lesson

I understand you have your own issues. I've seen many, which is helpful, but I aim to discover what content and skill gaps you might have. I aim to challenge you just beyond your current level, but always ensuring you gain a sense of achievement by learning some new skill or understanding.

I offer 30 min or 60 min sessions, recommending the longer for older students. Given my four decades as a teacher, trainer, international consultant and department HOD I have a wide knowledge of texts and deep knowledge of the curriculum. I have taught all ages, from Prep. to university, but secondary English is my specialty. I am highly qualified: MEd (Hons), BA, Dip ED, Dip TESOL, Cert IV TAE and open to students of all ages or English ability.

My goal is to work where you are at, with the curriculum material you have at hand at school or elsewhere. I will add understanding to this but also depth with new material, and then extend you further.
