About Brooklynn
I graduated as valedictorian from Yukon High School in 2018 and received my BA in political science from Stanford in 2023. I am currently in a Master's program for social work, though I am looking to expand into the art history field to receive my PhD.
My previous engagements are as eclectic as my fields of interest. I was a 5th grade teacher and have over 5 years of tutoring experience with AP courses, test prep, and writing support. I have had internships with legal organizations and news outlets and been selected for a grant to conduct independent historical research.
I aspire to act as an example of a life-long learner and embody the value and joys of a dedication to education.

As a previous 5th grade teacher, I believe fun and engagement are an integral part of any lesson. I would never shy away from game-ifying any previously-dry concept, and my array of crayons, colored pencils, bright post-it notes, scissors, and highlighters are always close at hand. I heavily utilize projects, games, and activities because I don't think the depth, focus, and engagement gained from their use can be beat.
I am a big believer in conversation as a way to solidly and further knowledge, demonstration followed by hands-on practice, and repetition. I will also teach every student I tutor the skills they need to be successful on their own, such that the goal of any tutoring stint is to ensure they reach a point where they no longer need a tutor. These include self-led learning skills, motivation, study skills, and time-management.
I have experience teaching 5th graders as well as tutoring AP and college level courses. I believe the value and joy of education is not exclusive to any age group, though the methods must change to compliment their development and interests.
