About Anya
I am a Stanford undergraduate with a strong passion for writing, communication, and mentorship. Much of my background has been shaped by experiences in editing, essay development, and argumentation, including serving as a co-editor-in-chief and participating in debate. For the past two years, I have worked closely with students, especially high schoolers, to help them become more confident and effective writers. I care deeply about meeting students where they are, adapting to their learning style, and creating a supportive space where they feel comfortable asking questions, sharing feedback, and growing over time.

My approach as a tutor is highly personalized, collaborative, and centered on helping students become stronger, more independent writers rather than simply correcting their work for them. I primarily work with high school students, especially juniors and seniors, as well as students who want support with academic essays, personal statements, supplemental applications, and overall writing development. A typical lesson usually begins with identifying the student’s goal for the session, whether that is brainstorming ideas, strengthening structure, refining argumentation, or polishing style and clarity, and then working together through guided discussion, feedback, and revision so they understand not just what to change, but why. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s learning preferences, since some students benefit from step-by-step structure while others need more open-ended conversation and confidence-building. What sets me apart is my strong background in writing, editing, and argumentation through experiences like serving as a co-editor-in-chief and participating in debate, along with two years of tutoring essay writing for students who have gone on to earn admission to top universities. Above all, I value open communication, flexibility, and encouragement, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, receiving feedback, and developing their own authentic voice.
