About Trevor
Life in the real world is hard to navigate alone, and we all need a helping hand from time to time. Why should we approach our education any differently?
Students are often expected to solve difficult problems entirely on their own. My mission is to provide the support you need, transforming your academic journey from struggling to thriving.

I love to learn and facilitate the learning of others. It is for this reason why my teaching methods and techniques are effective.
The general foundation of my approach is centered on scaffolding learning (starting with full assistance and less and less as student progresses). The two main methods I use are deep analysis (Socratic questioning) & visual models.
The typical structure of my lesson plans are:
1. Diagnostics - assess where the student's level currently is at with the subject matter.
2. Concept Exploration - introduce material and strategy for learning.
3. Direct Instruction - perform problem-solving steps while communicating with the student as to how problems are solved (also known as the "I Do" portion of scaffolding learning).
4. Guided Practice - co-create a step-by-step checklist with the student on how to solve problems and follow the process together (also known as the "We Do" portion of scaffolding learning).
5. Independent Practice - take away the checklist from student and perform problem-solving with assistance as needed from myself (also known as the "You Do" portion of scaffolding learning).
6. Wrap-Up/Reflection - reflect on the lesson and the student's current level with the subject matter, get them to identify a mistake they made and find the solution.
What sets me apart as a tutor is simply my sheer dedication and commitment to enhancing the performance and knowledge of struggling students. I myself used to be one of those students that couldn't quite perform at the levels I was expected to. The difference came when I refused to remain where I was at, and began putting the work in!
I have math lessons for all grades K-12 and science lessons for grades 9-12. Lastly, I am proficient in general and organic chemistry college courses at the 100-200 level.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to recommend Trevor for the math tutor position. I had the opportunity to work with Trevor in a professional capacity at Parents Invincible, where I supervised him in his role as a Community Ambassador.
In that role, Trevor canvassed our community to provide families with information about our school quality guide. He consistently stood out for how well he communicated with families — he had a natural ability to break down information clearly, listen to parents' concerns, and make sure they left every conversation feeling informed and supported. That same skill translates directly to tutoring, where explaining concepts patiently and adapting to how each student learns is essential.
Trevor was also exceptionally thorough and reliable. He was always punctual, followed through on every commitment, and consistently went above and beyond what was asked of him. His strong organizational skills led him to be promoted to team lead within a short period of time, where he successfully coordinated the work of others while maintaining the same high standard in his own.
I am confident Trevor would bring the same care, patience, and dependability to a math tutoring role that he brought to his work with our families. I recommend him without reservation and am happy to answer any further questions.
Sincerely,
Alesha Figueroa-Falcon, MPA
Executive Director, Parents Invincible
To Whom It May Concern,
As a veteran educator, I have spent my career recognizing the qualities that make an exceptional teacher: patience, adaptability, deep subject knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to student growth. As a parent, I have had the unique privilege of watching these exact traits develop in my son, Trevor Jones. It is with immense pride, both personally and professionally, that I offer my highest recommendation for Trevor as he pursues his career in education.
Trevor’s natural talent for teaching first became evident within our own home. When educational standards in mathematics began to evolve, I found it increasingly challenging to support my youngest son—who is ten years Trevor's junior—with his math homework. Without hesitation, Trevor stepped in. Even while away at college, he maintained this dedication by continuing their tutoring sessions virtually. What impressed me most was his pedagogical approach: Trevor refused to simply hand over answers. Instead, he patiently guided his brother through targeted questions, conceptual lessons, and practice examples, empowering him to figure out the solutions independently.
After earning his Associate’s degree, Trevor brought that same dedication to our school district as a substitute teacher. He rapidly became the most sought-after substitute in the building. While many view substitute teaching as mere classroom management, Trevor engaged with the students directly. Teachers actively requested him because they knew he would meticulously follow their lesson plans, keep students on track, and ensure meaningful learning took place rather than just monitoring busywork. His encouraging demeanor, patience, and genuine connection with students earned him widespread praise from administration and colleagues alike.
This hands-on experience and the overwhelming positive feedback he received affirmed his true calling, inspiring him to enroll at Rowan University to earn his Bachelor’s degree, and he is currently obtaining his teaching certification. Trevor’s passion for education is a lifelong commitment that touches every area of his life. This devotion is currently reflected in how he actively teaches and instills a love of learning in his own young daughter.
Trevor possesses the heart, discipline, and skill set of a master educator. He does not just manage a classroom; he inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and fosters genuine understanding. I do not doubt that he will be an extraordinary asset to any educational institution lucky enough to have him.
Sincerely,
