About Rose
I’m Rose, a biostatistics PhD student at UTHealth and recent Master's graduate from Northwestern University. I earned my Bachelor’s degrees in computer science and neuroscience and behavioral biology from Emory University.
My academic background has given me both a strong foundation in math and science and plenty of experience explaining challenging ideas clearly. I enjoy breaking down complex problems into approachable steps and helping students see that they are capable of mastering difficult material. My goal is not just to improve grades, but also to build lasting confidence and problem-solving skills.

I break complex topics into manageable steps, encourage students to explain their reasoning, and use practice problems to strengthen both skills and understanding. My method emphasizes asking questions that guide students toward their own “aha” moments rather than just giving answers.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of prior material, followed by targeted practice on current challenges. I adjust the pace depending on the student’s confidence, and I end each session with a short recap and a plan for what to practice before the next lesson.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect academic training with supportive, personalized instruction. With a background in biostatistics and neuroscience, I understand both the technical demands of math and science and the importance of fostering curiosity and persistence.
My lessons are designed for middle and high school students working on math (from algebra through multi-variable calculus and statistics), biology, and chemistry. I particularly enjoy supporting students who may lack confidence or need material explained in different ways until it clicks.
