About Rachel
Over the past three years, I have gained valuable tutoring experience working with students of different ages and learning goals. My journey began with legal tutoring at university, where I helped fellow law students understand complex legal concepts, prepare for assessments, and develop effective study techniques. This experience taught me how to break down challenging material into clear, manageable steps while encouraging students to think critically and independently.
In addition to legal tutoring, I have taught English and Accounting online to high school students, including Grade 12 learners preparing for their final examinations. I have guided students through essay writing, grammar, language analysis, comprehension, and exam preparation, while also helping Accounting students strengthen their understanding of key concepts and improve their problem-solving skills. Seeing students grow in confidence and achieve results has been one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching.
I hold a 180-hour TEFL Certificate, which has equipped me with practical strategies for teaching English as a foreign language to learners from diverse backgrounds. Academically, I have completed a Bachelor of Arts with majors in English and Psychology, followed by an LLB degree. My background in English has given me a strong foundation in language, literature, writing, and communication, while Psychology has helped me better understand how people learn and stay motivated. My legal studies further strengthened my analytical thinking, communication, and ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
My teaching philosophy is simple: every student has the potential to succeed when they feel supported, encouraged, and understood. I believe that learning should be interactive, engaging, and enjoyable rather than intimidating. I tailor each lesson to the individual student's goals, learning style, and pace, creating a positive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress.
Whether you're learning English for school, work, travel, or personal growth, my goal is not only to help you improve your skills but also to build your confidence and help you develop a genuine appreciation for the language. I strive to make every lesson friendly, practical, and motivating, so that each student leaves feeling more capable than when they arrived.
