About Thierry

Storyboarder and illustrator of realistic comics since 2008, trained in Decorative Arts in Strasbourg and in the school of Sèvres, and Parisian since the launch of my activity, I took the trainer's cap since 2012 and taught various techniques and hand drawing of intention and imagination; perspective, space, living model, vegetation, storyboard, project design of all types in various formations of applied arts. Since 2018, I have led a graphic design / motion / space design course for the Eductive group at the Montparnasse tower. With these experiences and also skilled in cutting / audiovisual production which was a second cap in my career, I am flexible and very adaptable to your wishes and your projects.

About the lesson

For me, the driving force of all drawing training is the desire, and particularly the need to learn or perfect this passion as part of an awakening, a need or a personal or professional project. Depending on whether you wish to learn drawing, or whether you wish to assert your know-how, I know how to find, on the basis of our first exchanges, the ideas and follow-ups that will reveal your talent. There is no absolute or "gift" for drawing and artistic expression in general: only a choice and motivation, time and work. I can unlock your level if he is still a beginner, initiate you or help you professionalize in drawing in various fields. My interventions are aimed more at an adult audience; minimum college / high school, student and professional. With me, no "default" academic course. The techniques of the ancients are fascinating, but today they need to reveal themselves in scenarios, narrative ideas and projects, staging and challenges over several sessions. I work in the following way: during our first contact, we discuss to identify the need; professional orientation, simple passion for drawing, preparation for a challenge or a school. If there is any trace of drawing, boards, test on your part, I would look at them during this first interview. According to your profile, I then place on a set of several sessions an initiation or "reboot" to observation drawing from a model, or directly project drawing work from references, ideas ... This may vary; perspective, character drawing, animation, imagination drawing, storyboard or comic book cutting, classic or digital coloring techniques. The lessons can take place at home with the student, or outside as part of the courses of drawing of observation on Paris or close suburbs only: museum, street, tropical greenhouses, architecture ... I can give private lessons, or collective (5/6 participants maximum, to have time to make a good case by case). IF the circumstances require it, I can easily organize these courses and give these contents REMOTELY and throughout France, having a great experience of teleworking through my freelance course; free application to install (zoom / discord / skype), and we can work in real time by exchanging documents in several ways. I could also carry out my demonstrations, show on paper / screen sharing ... according to photo and different requests. The equipment to start will not be hard to find: - white paper (preferably A4 or A3 sketchbook 90-100 gr., Or LAYOUT 75gr type paper for those who wish to work directly with color techniques). For the first sessions, you can use plain paper (machine or draft) - pencils or criterium: 3h - hb - b or 2b - white gum or bread crumb gum. - enough to photograph for possible outdoor outings. smartphone or camera. - rigid support for outdoor work; drawing board, or simple board. For work at home or telecommuting, a smooth table will suffice! thereafter, depending on your progress, we may use other techniques; - black fine-tip pens from 0.3 to 0.7, various inking pens, promarker, watercolor, digital techniques (photoshop) on wacom graphics tablet according to your progress and your needs ... The sessions are based on a topic hand or confirmed drawing (storyboard or drawing of imagination). For each course, I start with a short explanation (more dense on the principle of the challenge in drawing the work in progress) with demonstration on paper or digital medium, and then give time to move on to practice, which is the most important. The ideal timing for a private lesson is 2 to 3 hours maximum. The first achievements are fundamental; I give several tutorials ready to serve for the main challenges of representation in drawing; character / perspective / vegetation / enhancement / first steps towards digital colorization ... These tutorials are a complement to my interventions and can help keep a thread between sessions. I can supplement them with additional exercises according to your motivation and your personal planning. Ready to go?
