About Paislea

I would like to teach because I would like to give students the experience I shared with the most influential teachers in my life. I would honour the chance to be able to make students a better version of themselves, whilst having a more 1 to 1 layout rather than diverted attention to other students. This ensures that more attention is focused on weak areas as well as strong, while the student learns about general languages at school.

About the lesson

To begin, I use eliciting to refresh and bring forward any prior knowledge to the language, and for each lesson I focus on a separate skill area i.e. grammar, listening, speaking, reading or writing. As the student progresses, I will ask the student about their weaknesses, in each skill area. My lessons can include verb practice, and depending on their fluency level, introducing new tenses. The first part of the lesson will include a lead-in to encourage focus on the topics that will appear later in the lesson, and I will encourage the student to take notes as I progress through tasks. Later on in the lesson, I will create a test-like ambience, in which I test the student on the tasks covered in the lesson. I used to conduct weekly 1-hour lessons for GCSE students as I monitored their progress and discussed how to better their knowledge in preparation for exams. If there are no exams in sight, I will conduct my own mini-examinations.
