Teaching Method and Techniques
Hands-On Learning: Art is best learned by doing. I focus on giving students practical experience with various techniques, mediums, and tools. This can range from drawing and painting to sculpture, digital art, and mixed media. I provide feedback as they work, helping them adjust their technique in real-time.
Exploration and Experimentation: I encourage students to step outside their comfort zones and explore different styles, techniques, and materials. Art is about personal expression, and I help students discover their unique voice, whether that’s through traditional realism, abstract art, or modern experimental styles.
Historical and Contemporary Context: Understanding the history of art and current trends in the art world is essential for creative growth. I integrate art history into lessons, using past and present artists' work to inspire students and give context to their own artistic development.
Critical Feedback & Reflection: I offer constructive, thoughtful feedback and ask students to reflect on their own work. Self-critique is a powerful tool in the creative process, and I guide students to develop the ability to assess and evolve their own pieces.
