About Dennis

I teach guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and English composition.

Apart from teaching, I am a songwriter, and a member of the indie rock band Buddha Trixie, active in the SoCal indie music scene since 2013.

As an academic, I hold a Bachelor's Degree from UC Davis with a major in Technocultural Studies and a Minor in Professional Writing.

In addition to Buddha Trixie, I have gained experience collaborating with a number of artists as a session musician and touring performer including Jon Wiilde, Pardyalone, M.A.G.S., Kellz, Guapdad 4000, J. Kelr, Roman Lane, and Mickey Shiloh.

With an obsessive love for the arts and an eclectic range of influences, I encourage my students to develop their artistic sides and to hone their skills with a nurturing and patient teaching style.

About the lesson

As a touring and studio musician with over 10 years of experience, I hope to pass on the joy of music to others who hope to discover their artistic side!

I have a well-rounded background as a multi-instrumentalist, meaning I can teach up to advanced guitar and bass lessons, intermediate drums and beginner keys.

My passion for the arts is also represented in my academic background. With a Bachelor's degree in Technocultural Studies and minor in professional writing from UC Davis, creative and academic writing are very close to my heart.

Whether I am helping a student refine a draft of their essay or assisting someone in learning their favorite song (or even writing one of their own!) it is my belief that giving my students a strong grounding in fundamentals is essential to more advanced progression.

I hang my hat on a patient, kind approach that takes each student's individual needs into account.

In music lessons, I start by honing in on what my students love, and work on refining their skills so they can truly learn to love their instrument and how it helps them express who they are. We will learn the building blocks of technique, theory, and songwriting by studying the best songwriters to ever do it.

In English writing lessons, we will break down the key fundamentals of composition that will extend beyond the classroom, learning not only how to draft a competent essay, but how to read in between the lines for a well-rounded view of course material.
