About Ivana
I am a University of Texas supply chain management major with a linguistics minor and a native Swahili speaker. Fully Tanzanian, I grew up between Dar es Salaam and Houston, giving me both cultural depth and academic structure. I bring a professional, patient, and confidence-building approach to teaching Swahili, blending real-world usage with clear linguistic foundations to help students learn effectively and comfortably.

I teach Swahili in a way that is practical, cultural, and confidence-based. I focus on helping students actually speak Swahili rather than just memorizing grammar rules.
I teach Swahili the way it’s used in real life:
-everyday conversations
-literature and history
-music, slang, and expressions
-cultural context from East Africa
Lessons are:
-interactive (you speak from day one)
-low-pressure (mistakes are expected)
-adapted to your goals (travel, work, heritage learning, curiosity, or fluency)
I mix conversation practice, simple grammar explained clearly, listening & repetition, and cultural storytelling. I try not to make the drills boring as I believe language should feel alive.
