About Elsa

I am Elsa, a Finnish singer and singing teacher based in Bratislava, Slovakia. I sing professionally in the Slovak Philharmonic Choir with which I've had the honor of performing on the biggest stages of Europe, including Wiener Staatsoper, Berliner Philharmonie and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. I'm also an experienced solo singer, and I've performed in countries such as Finland, Italy, Slovakia and Czech republic. My voice type is mezzo-soprano and I am currently finishing my master's studies in vocal performance.

I acquired my bachelor's degree in vocal pedagogy, making me a certified singing teacher. Although classical singing is generally taught to students who have gone through puberty, I wrote my bachelor's thesis on the topic of teaching singing to child students with the aid of Kodaly method. When teaching children, I combine vocal training with solfegge and general music education, making sure that the child develops a comprehensive understanding in singing and music. With adult students and teenagers I focus more on vocal training, though I am happy to help the student with reading music, for example.

About the lesson

I specialize in classical singing, though we can also work on musical theater repertoire.We usually start of our lessons with vocal exercises which often include breathing exercises and correcting posture. From there we move on to repertoire (songs or arias), on which we work for the rest of the lesson.

Feel free to make requests on which songs or arias you'd like to work on. I'm always open to requests, though I might direct you to more fitting repertoire if I feel that it doesn't serve you in the moment. Do not worry if you have no songs in mind - I will provide all of my students with repertoire that suits their voices and needs.

I teach students of all levels, including total beginners. It doesn't matter what voice type or gender you are, I have experience in teaching a variety of different voices. I am open to teaching children as young as 7 as well. You do not need anything for the first lesson. A piano or a stand for music is a plus, but by no means mandatory!
