About Mark
Hi,
I'm Mark. I am 53 years old. I am based in Brisbane Australia. I have worked in the field of Education for more than fifteen years in a support role for students with disabilities. I have worked with hundreds of students in this time supporting all aspects of their learning. I am very passionate about teaching and my main reason for wanting to teach is that I believe learning is the key to well-being, an appreciation for life and longevity. I hope to tutor many students and provide them with as many learning opportunities as possible. I have a strong work ethic and spend a great deal of time and care in preparing my lessons.

I utilize a variety of explicit teaching techniques using a (GRR) model (Gradual Release of Responsibility) where I will firstly engage students' prior knowledge of the topic by asking a series of open-ended questions. I will then explicitly teach the content followed by some group work activities and finally the students will complete an activity themselves. I incorporate a variety of learning styles including catering for visual-spatial, auditory, kinesthetic and verbal learners. I use as much variety in learning activities as possible including role-playing, CLOZE activities, and writing activities that encourage students to be creative. I believe that personalizing the learning process and experience is key to ensuring students engage in the learning from beginning to end and gain the most valuable and usable skills. I also encourage students to practice their English language as much as possible during the sessions.
