About Jasmeen
I teach basic foundation Punjabi to young children. I use tricks to help kids learn the Punjabi alphabet in a fun and memorable way, helping them to easily understand. We will start from the alphabet to writing basic full sentences, and from basic introduction to fluent conversations. We will do spelling, reading and listening tests to strengthen previous learning and do spaced repetition to build a strong base.

I offer friendly and personalised Punjabi tutoring for young children, focusing on building strong foundational skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to fit each child’s needs, pace, and confidence level. We will start from basic to gradually doing full formed speech and sentences. I will prepare my lesson after talking with you and your expectations and wants. We will do spelling, reading and listening tests to strengthen previous learning and do spaced repetition to build a strong base. WRITING: I will prepare a worksheet which we will go over together using the method: Say, Look, Cover, Write, Check. With this method the student will be able to improve their spelling and learn to say the words, this will also further improve their accent. This will help them apply their knowledge on harder and more advanced words in the future which will help them form sentences. LISTENING: I will say words that we have used in previous lessons and they will write it. This will force them to listen carefully in the lesson as the words will be assessed. This will also help them improve their spelling as well as understand what is being said! They will then be asked to try and translate the words and I will provide help for the ones they don't get. READING: We will start with phrases > Short sentences > Longer sentences > Fully formed sentences > Paragraph > Story. This will help them gradually build the confidence and the skill to read out loud. The stories will be educational and appropriate for their Punjabi level. SPEAKING: Although I will speak to them in English I will start to shift to saying basic sentences like "shall we start?" in Punjabi. This will help them get used to the accent and feel comfortable speaking Punjabi themselves. Before a previous lesson ends, inform the student about the upcoming speaking lesson topic e.g. Family. This will allow them to gather their information and practice beforehand. This is optional and no homework, however it will make it easier for them to speak. The topic will also be shared with the parent. The topics will be fun and engaging, this will allow them to be able to express themselves. We will do unexpected therapy talks about their day in Punjabi! This builds a fun connection with the language!
