About Sharilee
I am married with 2 daughters and I have 2 dogs and cat.
I have a bachelors in education and I have worked with children for over 20 years. I also worked as a vision therapist where I learned the importance of incorperating eye movements, body movement, tactile intergration and auditory intergration is a necessity in learning to read.
I have a strong background in activating the brain to engage it for learning new skills.

Are you looking to improve your child's phonics and reading skills? Look no further! My tutoring services are designed to help children develop foundational skills in phonics and reading. I use a multi sensory approach to engage the whole body and brain in learning. Every child learns differently, so I try to provide personalized instruction tailored to your child's unique needs and learning style.
With my phonics and reading tutoring, your child will:
Learn the fundamentals of phonics, including letter sounds, blending, and decoding.
Improve reading comprehension and fluency through engaging activities and guided practice.
Build a strong vocabulary and develop essential reading strategies.
Gain confidence in their reading abilities and develop a lifelong love for reading.
A typical lesson would start off with a warm up movement activity to engage the wholebody, senses and brain in learning. During warm up the activity will focus on phoneme awareness and reviewing prior skills.
Then we will move onto phonics instruction. I will introduce new phonics concepts and review previous learned ones. This will include teaching letter sounds,phoneme blending, segmenting and decoding. I will use a variety of multi sensory techniques, such as flashcards, manipulative, digital resources and whole body movement to make learning interactive and engaging.
After this we will do some reading g practice. I will provide reading material appropriate for the student's reading level. The student will read aloud, and the tutor will provide guidance, support and feedback as needed. The focus will be on fluency, comprehension, and applying the phonics skills learned in the lesson.
Next will be vocabulary development and I will introduce vocabulary and spelling g practice based on the reading material and phonics lesson. The student will learn the meanings of the words,practice using them in sentences, and engage in activities to reinforce their understanding.
Next we will do word work activities, I will incorperate word word activities to reinforce phonics skills. This may involve word building, word sorting, or word games taht focus on specific phonics patterns or sight words.
Then we will do wrap up and homeowrk review. I will summarize the lesson and the key concepts covered and provide feedback. The I will assign homework and reading practice for student to work on for further practice.
These lesson are focussing on children 5-9 who are in the begiining stages of readin or having trouble with reading because of lacking phonics skills.
