About Jin
Born in Guangzhou, China, I began my vocal training in Chinese folk singing before transitioning to Western classical vocal techniques. In 2016, I relocated to Melbourne, Australia, and was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School in 2019, where I pursued specialized music studies. I was awarded a scholarship to enter the school’s vocal stream and am currently completing a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne. Musical achievements include performances with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO), as well as appearances in the Victorian Top Class Music and Top Acts showcases in 2024. In 2023, I was awarded first prize in the Ensemble Competition at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. Additionally, I won first prize in the Art Song category and second prize in the Ensemble category at the Classical Singing Competition Inc. In 2024, I was a finalist in both the MRC Baroque Competition and the Outstanding Soloist Competition at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. Tutor of Melbourne Youth Orchestra Chorist during MYO Winter School 2025.

As a teacher, I strive not only to guide my students in developing their technical and musical skills but also to foster genuine, supportive relationships, viewing them as collaborators in the boundless world of music-making. I place particular emphasis on helping my students develop their interpretations and personal style in music-making, while also prioritizing vocal health as a fundamental aspect of training for singers of all ages. Special care is given to the unique needs of young and developing voices. My approach aims to equip students with both artistic expression and long-term, sustainable technique.
