About Akiko

My name is Akiko Brun. I am a student currently living and studying a dual degree between UCD and Paris Panthéon-Assas. This degree is a combination of Irish law and French law. Being French, I have complete fluency in that language. Indeed, during my French exams for the Baccalaureate, I had 19/20 for the oral exam and 20/20 for the written exam. Furthermore, enrolled in a dual degree, I continue to speak and learn both French and English, in a higher degree than in high school as it relates to my study of their two law systems.

About the lesson

My motive is to perfectly respond to my student’s needs. In that sense, I adapt all of my lessons to the goals of my students. Each of them is different and therefore need, sometimes, opposite methods and exercises. That is why I don’t particularly plan my lessons. I prefer to adjust, later on, with my students. Usually, I have a first meeting (in person or Zoom meeting) in order to understand the reasons why my student wants to learn French and for what purpose. Then, I will propose various types of exercises which answer these particular needs. Most of the time, my sessions are divided into 4 or 5 periods in which we try to focus on different aspects of the language (written expression, oral expression, written oral comprehension). Furthermore, depending on the age of my student and their objectives, I often try to give him or her some exercises to do for the next sessions (watching a video in French, listening to a podcast, reading a journal article…). Each session is thereby different, which renders the learning of the French language less difficult and more original.
