About Samantha
My name is Samantha. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I'm a multi-lingual attorney working for the state of NJ. Location: Camden County, NJ.
Spanish is by far my favorite language and has always been a huge part of my life! From geeking out on the grammar, to listening to Latin pop music, to even making my family learn Spanish, I am very excited to share my passion for it with others by helping them learn to read, write, & speak the language.
I also have had multiple immersive experiences in Latin America, where I spent time studying Spanish in Nicaragua & Portuguese in Brazil.
Undergraduate degrees: B.A. from University of Pittsburgh in Political Science, Minor in Spanish, Minor in Portuguese, Certificate in Latin American Studies, & Certificate in Global Studies
Graduate degree: Juris Doctor from Rutgers-Camden School of Law

In my lessons, I try to incorporate a bit of fun! Some activities include: - practicing reading comprehension by using bilingual children's books such as Dr. Seuss (or other book depending on their reading level) - focusing on oral comprehension by listening to songs in Spanish and having students fill in words that they hear in the lyrics -labeling items in a room to increase vocabulary retention -having "hablame" sessions ("talk to me" sessions) where students practice speaking by talking about their day (or topic of their choice) -playing memorization games to learn new words and verb endings
