About Mia

I’m a 15 year old student at Cheltenham college, I really enjoy English and really want to spread my love of it or at least help those struggling to improve! I think English is a really important subject to have at least basic knowledge on! I love working with younger children and showing them that learning can be fun! I have always had a love for English and want to be a journalist in the future.

About the lesson

My lessons would vary depending on what your child would need help in such as:
4-8 year old: I would help with building simple sentences to use in pre- school and primary school as well as developing simple grammar.
7 plus: I would help them work towards the exam and develop their basic literacy skills and also improve grammar. Along side that I would do a section of creative writing; sometimes there is also an interview involved so I would help them by stepping through the basic questions!
11 plus: I have done both 11 plus and 7 plus so I understand what is needed! I would help you child further their understanding in creative writing, complex, compound and how to make effective use of a short sentence including how to make it create suspense. I will teach them how to plan and how to know how to end the story from the beginning they start even if it changes half way through. I will further their understanding in literacy and ask them and you what they think they need to focus on. Depending how long you want your child’s session will depend how much it costs. My first session for each person will be free as a trial run for you and I am happy for the parents to sit in for the first session to see how they like me as a person and as a tutor as I am fully sensitive to the fact that you will want to be comfortable with me! I would also like to have an additional chat in the first session to get to know your child as well as the parents and just step through what you would like me to teach and any learning difficulties such as ADHD and so on.
