About Dieu
Like a lot of people, I used to have a tax person handle the filing of my taxes even though all I had were T slips. When I moved out of my family home, I decided to try filing my own taxes, and I was glad I did! It was so easy to do it myself that I never went back to paying someone else to do them for me. The software available nowadays makes filing taxes as easy as filling in forms, for example, entering the number from box 16 into box 16 in the form on the screen. It really is that easy!!
My mission here is to help those who have any of the following slips to learn how to file their own taxes so that they can start saving on filing their taxes for years to come! (T4, T4A, T4PS, T4AP, T4AOAS, T5, RRSP Contributions, Medical receipts)
I've heard from friends that some of them pay $150+ for a tax person to file the taxes for them, when really they have more than enough knowledge to file themselves.

For the lesson, I'll need you to bring your tax slips from the previous year (already filed, not the current year), OR we can work with fake T forms from the internet since it is for educational and demonstrational purposes only. Then I'll walk you through how you would file them. The online software that I use to file my taxes allows one to create their account, fill in their information and tax slips, and see the tax return estimate all without paying anything. It only charges you if you want to file or view the full taxation package which isn't needed for the lesson.
By the time we finish, you should know how to file your taxes for the following year, and best of all, you won't have to pay someone else to do it for you. You'll save for years to come!
