About Thulani
I am a quantitative tutor and software engineer with a strong background in Mathematics, Economics, and Computer Science. I hold a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, and advanced training in economics, finance, AI, and machine learning. My academic and professional work spans quantitative finance, data science, algorithmic trading, and large-scale software systems.
I have worked as a global quantitative alpha researcher, software engineer, and security engineer, building models, analysing data, and developing real-world systems used in finance, technology, and blockchain environments. This practical experience allows me to connect theory with application and explain complex ideas in a clear, structured way.
As a tutor, I focus on deep understanding, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. I support students at high school, undergraduate, and adult learner levels, especially those who want to strengthen their mathematical reasoning, economic intuition, or programming skills. My goal is to help students become confident, independent thinkers who can apply what they learn beyond the classroom.

My teaching approach is structured, concept-focused, and student-centred. I aim to help students understand not only how to solve problems, but why the methods work. I begin by assessing each student’s current level and identifying gaps in understanding. Lessons then progress logically from fundamentals to more advanced topics.
In Mathematics, I emphasise strong foundations, step-by-step problem solving, and exam-style practice. In Economics, I focus on economic intuition, clear explanation of models, and real-world applications. In Computer Science, I teach algorithmic thinking, problem decomposition, and clean, logical coding practices.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and includes revision, new material, guided practice, independent problem solving, and a clear summary. Longer sessions are available for exam preparation or coursework support.
I have a strong background in quantitative subjects and experience supporting secondary, undergraduate, and adult learners. My lessons are suitable for students preparing for exams, struggling with concepts, or aiming for high achievement. My goal is to build confidence, independence, and long-term understanding.
