About Drea

I am an experienced violin tutor with 7 years of teaching and professional music experience, passionate about helping students achieve technical proficiency, musical expression, and self-confidence.

I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning their first notes to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.

One of the most meaningful milestones in my career has been guiding students from struggling with posture, technique, or stage confidence to performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and expressive depth.

My teaching emphasises building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive performance.

I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to ensure students develop a comprehensive understanding of music.

Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a patient, supportive, and inspiring environment. Teaching violin allows me to nurture confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for music in every student.

About the lesson

I teach violin using a methodology focused on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to create a learning environment that fosters technical skill, artistic expression, and confidence.

Lessons are fully customised to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, combining structured technical practice with improvisation, creative exploration, and performance preparation.

Motivation is at the core. I help students define achievable goals, monitor progress, and celebrate milestones, building perseverance, self-confidence, and a passion for music. Communication ensures lessons are collaborative and interactive, allowing students to express challenges, ask questions, and share creative ideas freely.

Creativity is integrated into every lesson through improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises, encouraging students to explore their artistic voice and connect emotionally with music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, instilling habits that support long-term success.

Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic piano, providing students with a holistic musical foundation and preparing them for lifelong engagement with music.
