About Calum
I am a Theatre Studies MLitt Student and I have a First Class Degree in Theatre. I have been in directing roles for three years, working primarily in collaborative, devised theatre. I have training in stage composition, voice and movement and I have a wide knowledge of classical and contemporary texts. My studies have provided me with an intricate knowledge of the relationship between text and performance, actor and audience and director and actor, and I believe this approach is most useful to actors in training.

I base my classes on the same composition, voice and movement training I have received. I will give my students the tools they need to craft the signs and meanings they are producing on stage which will give them a sort of audience eye view. This view is important for actors as they must be able to craft their performance in order to achieve a desired effect. I will work through a variety of important vocal and movement techniques and warm ups and apply these techniques to the text we are working with. I will also work through the text, giving my student the valuable critical and analytical techniques required to interpret a text and adapt it into their desired performance.
