About Carol

As someone who has received a raw A+ across all my VCE subjects (English Language, French, Chemistry, Maths Methods, Biology, Music Performance), someone who has gotten into Mac Rob in Round 1 with flying colours (4 superiors) and someone who has scored a scholarship, I am here to help students to reach their goal. I am here to help students to develop confidence so that they can seek valuable opportunities in the future.

About the lesson

Hey guys! My name is Carol and I graduated from the selective-entry Mac Robertson’s Girls High School in 2021 with an ATAR of 98.90. Given the current COVID circumstances, the lessons will be ONLINE. This will not impact the quality of our lessons - any handouts will be sent to your email prior to the lesson and any queries you have will be answered straight away.

I will be offering ONLINE lessons (1-hour, 1.5-hour, 2-hour) for:
- VCE students
- Those wanting to take the UCAT
- Those looking to score a scholarship
- Those interested in entering a selective high school

Study scores, SAC scores & other scores:
- English Language: study score of 45, A+ across my school SACs for Units 3 & 4 and my final exam
- French: study score of 48, A+ across my school SACs for Units 3 & 4, my oral exam and my written exam
- Biology: study score of 46, A+ across my school SACs for Units 3 & 4 and my final exam
- Chemistry: study score of 43
- Maths Methods: study score of 43
- UCAT: 3130 (2021), received 6 interview offers before taking VCE exams
- Mac Rob Entrance Exam: 4 superiors

Brief outline of what our lessons will look like for each subject:
- I will provide you with my past A+ Mac Rob SACs with challenging questions that will definitely prepare you for the final exam. Anything you want to raise will be addressed straight-away in lessons.
- English Language: I will teach you a rigid structure that you can use to write ALL of your ACs and Essays regardless of the text or the topic. I will teach you how to analyse every single feature from the VCE study design and give you the contemporary examples that I have written and used in my SACs and exams.
- French: I will teach you the key grammar points needed for VCE French, what grammar points you must include and how you can incorporate them into your essays (eg: subjunctive, differences between imparfait and passé composé). I will also give you a short list of vocab to learn at the end of each lesson that includes common vocab and vocab tested in VCE exams. 15 mins of each lesson will be dedicated for oral practice, where we will have a spontaneous oral conversation in preparation for the oral exam.
- Biology & Chemistry: I will go through every single dot point in the study design and give you everything you need to learn for the SACs / exams. I also have a huge bank of practice exams that we will start going through from the first lesson.
- Maths Methods: All of our learning will be practice-question based because I believe that there is no point in knowing all the formulas and NOT knowing how to apply them to specific questions. I also have a huge bank of practice exams that we will start going through from the first lesson.
- UCAT & Mac Rob Entrance Exam: We will go through practice questions, learn the tips and tricks that will maximise your scores and go through pitfalls of past students

Lesson Fees & Length:
- $40 / hr for one-to-one lessons. $30 / hr for small groups
- I provide 1hr, 1.5hrs, and 2 hrs lessons.

As someone who had to learn most of the materials myself during the pandemic, I know how to best engage the students and ensure that the content I teach sticks with them. Furthermore, as someone who is fluent in English, Chinese Mandarin (native), Shanghainese (Chinese dialect - native), I am capable of communicating with students and parents of different background and understand their cultural values. Additionally, I can speak and understand French (B1 / VCA 3&4 level) and I can understand Cantonese (Chinese dialect).
