About Kirsty

I am a professional, trained singer and teacher passionate in helping students transform their vocal skills and confidence through a well rounded, individually tailored approach to their unique voices, needs and goals.

I studied both my Undergraduate and Masters degree in Music at Goldsmiths University and am an active musician and performer, currently working as a solo artist as well as collaboratively. In the past year I have performed in venues such as Sir John Soane Museum, Camden Art Centre, Vortex, with Keiji Haino as part of his Cafe OTO residency; recording for Holly Herndon & Mat Dryhurst's 2024 collaboration with the Serpentine and at the Time of Music festival in Viitasaari, Finland.

Working in these diverse professional contexts as a singer informs my teaching style enormously. I learn about new music, work with many different musicians, adapt to different performance specifications and scores and am constantly expanding my approach to the voice. I believe my practice as a performer and artist makes me a confident, open-minded, explorative and encouraging vocal tutor.

About the lesson

In vocal lessons I focus on building the confidence of my students as well as guiding them through a safe vocal technique. I help them engage with their body and voice in a connected manner, leading them through exercises that encourage supportive posture, breathing and vocal technique.

I adapt my teaching to each student, taking into consideration their unique strengths and challenges, reflecting on their progress and planning in detail their next lesson and the most effective way to help them develop.
