About Catarina

I have been in the world of music since I am 7 years old, where I learned music theory and how to play the piano and trumpet. Later I focused on the trumpet where I completed the Porto Music Conservatory with recognition. I played for about 15 years in orchestras, big bands and marching bands. Nowadays I continue to learn in the music industry, such as I currently am taking an Electronic Music Production Course and having singing lessons.

About the lesson

My music lessons are structured to offer a practical and personalised approach. I use methods that integrate musical theory and practice, covering topics such as: 1. Related to the instrument: - The principles of the instrument; - How to produce sound; - How to get a good performance with less effort; - Staccato and legato technique; - Scales and arpeggios; - Flexibility (harmonics); - Low and high notes; 2. Related to Music theory - Music figures: the basics; - Scales & chords: how to build; - Rhythmic figures on simple and compound time signatures; - Reading in clefs: G, F and C; - Intonated singing: vocal practice to develop pitch; - Auditory identification: auditory training to recognise musical intervals; How classes are held... Each class begins with a moment of relaxed conversation, asking about the student's day, to create a comfortable and trusting environment. From there, we follow the structured class that includes: - Rhythmic and melodic reading exercises; - Auditory identification of intervals; - Exploration of theoretical topics relevant to the day's content; The focus is always on gradual and adapted learning, ensuring that each student progresses at their own pace. Specialisations as a Teacher: I graduated from the Porto Conservatory of Music and have experience as a music teacher in secondary schools in England. Who are my classes for: My classes are aimed at students of all ages, at beginner and intermediate levels. Each lesson is tailored to individual needs and goals, ensuring a personalised and motivating learning experience. Perfect! Catarina has helped me with my technique with the trumpet allowing me to play lower and higher note correctly. She is a friendly person and a good teacher, we foucus a lot on breath control, dynamics and pitch control. She taught me to bend notes and play different notes with the same valve fingering which I get a lot of enjoyment out of.
I would deffenitly reccomend her as a teacher.

I developed a passion for music when I was around 5 years old! My favorite instrument is the trumpet, I always wanted to learn how to play it because I loved its sound.

Absolutely! Aurora is one of my favourite artists, I can listen the whole day without getting tired.
