About Vincent
Vincent Yim, Trumpet
Born in 2002, Vincent started his studies in piano at age 5, and in trumpet at age 8. His teachers were Mr Kelvin Ngai, Mr Danilo Delfin, and Mr Fung Ka Hing. Vincent is a proud recipient of the Kovner Fellowship at the Juilliard School, where he completed his Bachelor of Music degree and is currently pursuing his Master of Music degree. He is studying under Mr. Raymond Mase, former principal trumpet of the New York City Ballet Orchestra, and Mr. Chris Martin, principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. In the summer of 2022, Vincent joined the Pacific Music Festival’s Orchestra Academy, having the opportunity to study with Mr. Tamás Velenczei, former principal trumpet of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and Mr. Mark J. Inouye, principal trumpet of the San Francisco Symphony. Over the past decade, Vincent has been an active participant in various orchestras. He performed with the New York City Ballet Orchestra, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, the Trinity Baroque Orchestra at Trinity Church NYC, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Macau Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. In 2024, he had the opportunity to perform solo trumpet on Handel’s Messiah with the Masterwork Chorus in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium.

I will be mentoring students by explaining essential fundamental concepts, designing practice routines, and providing different musical ideas in approaching performance. Ultimately, I hope that students can learn music with creativity, develop their own passion, perform mature self-evaluation, and most importantly, enjoy the process of creating art.
