About Mahil

I am Mahil Bonfils, a trumpet student in the Preparatory Cycle for Higher Education (CPES) with Nicolas Chatenet at the Paris Regional Conservatory (CRR). I am also enrolled in the Specialized Cycle of Musical Training at the same conservatory and am a lyric tenor at the Saint-Maur-des-Fossés Regional Conservatory (CRR). My repertoire and playing style are primarily classical but can also incorporate jazz and contemporary music.

About the lesson

My teaching method is designed for trumpet players of all levels, from beginner to advanced. For a beginner, the initial approach and feel of the trumpet are crucial, so we'll start the first lesson by explaining and applying how the instrument works, addressing questions such as:
*How do I hold the instrument?
*How do I produce a sound?

We'll then try playing a C major scale using the instrument's valves. Finally, if time allows, we'll explore a first piece, preferably chosen by the student, building on previous lessons.
For a student who is already proficient, my approach will depend on their individual desires and needs. I believe that playing the trumpet should be enjoyable above all else, and I will do my best to innovate and offer teaching methods that appeal to the student. A student who is already proficient is, of course, welcome to bring one or more pieces they have learned or wish to learn.

An hour can be tiring for the lips of a beginner or less advanced student, so we will also include music theory (solfège) to develop their ear, reading skills, and musical knowledge.
