About Sohail

My name is Sohail, and I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Queen Mary's University, with a dream of one day designing cars. This degree is built entirely on the practical application of maths and physics—every calculation and principle I use is directly related to the core concepts I teach. This hands-on perspective allows me to show you exactly why these subjects matter. A big part of why I love to teach is the chance to build a genuine relationship with my students—I find it makes our lessons more positive, engaging, and fun. But the greatest reward is that moment of breakthrough: seeing a student finally grasp a concept they once thought was unachievable. That spark of confidence and understanding is what motivates me most, and it’s why I’m so committed to helping each student realise their own potential.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured and interactive, typically lasting 1 to 1.5 hours to maintain optimal focus. A core part of my method is the "teach-back" technique, where you explain the concept to me in your own words. This powerfully reinforces your understanding and significantly improves retention. Crucially, it also develops your academic language and clarity—key skills that lead to better communication and higher grades on exams and assignments. We solidify this with continuous, low-stakes quizzing throughout the session. To ensure progress, I assign regular, short homework tasks. This practice is essential for consolidating learning between our sessions. Completion is expected, and any necessary excuses must be agreed upon directly with a parent or guardian, as this consistency is key to your success.
