About Solana

With 25 years of experience in tutoring and special needs education, Solana is dedicated to helping students succeed. She holds a BA in Genetics with a minor in English and is a certified Dyscalculia specialist. Her extensive background equips her with a deep understanding of diverse learning needs and effective instructional strategies. About the lesson

As a tutor, I believe in tailoring education to the individual. I design personalized learning plans based on each student’s academic level, learning style, and personal or medical needs. My teaching method emphasizes clarity, patience, and consistency, especially when working with students who face learning challenges such as dyscalculia or ADHD.

I use a student-centered approach that combines structured support with flexibility. I integrate:

Scaffolded instruction to build foundational understanding

Visual and hands-on tools, especially in STEM subjects

Progress monitoring to adjust methods based on results

Clear, encouraging feedback to build confidence and motivation

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-up review to reinforce previous concepts

Introduction of new material, broken down into digestible parts

Guided practice with real-time support

Independent practice to build retention

Wrap-up and review, with time for questions

Progress notes sent to parents or guardians (for younger students)
