About Amy

I work in the FinTech industry after studying Economics at university level and I can attribute my academic success to the plethora of tutors that I had over the years!

Being tutored not only allowed me to boost my grades and stay on top of work, but I also gained invaluable insight into many teaching styles. It is because of this that I know what a student looks for in a tutor: a structured but individualised approach. Each student is different and so being an adaptable tutor and finding what’s best for the student is paramount to their success.

I have a welcoming approach so that students feel encouraged and confident to ask questions and learn through their mistakes. It is a priority of mine to get to know my students, their likes, dislikes, and motivations so that we can create the optimal environment for success. I understand that this can be daunting for students, so I like to introduce check-ins and recaps once we’ve reached the end of a given topic. I can’t wait to meet you – I promise that together we will get you performing to your best ability

About the lesson

Maths can be really enjoyable and once understood, can be mastered through repetition.

I like to focus on 3 aspects: content, technique/styles, connection. The first focuses on what you’re applying the maths to, the second is how you can apply maths to solve a question as there is often more than one way, and finally how to connect different branches of maths to solve those more complex questions.

I encourage my students to ask questions during the lesson so that they feel confident in their abilities. During my lessons with students, we take our time to understand the work and then practice questions within timed conditions in order to prepare them for their final exams.
