About Diya

I am a medical student at Lancaster University and I enjoy teaching in my spare time. My journey into medical school was a challenging one, as it is for most, and through my experience, I have garnered some highly promising study techniques and tips which I know can help those now also trying to achieve the grades needed for their dream course or university. I would love to be a part of your journey and help you achieve your full potential as I push students to work their hardest :).

About the lesson

My method of teaching always begins with open communication between myself, students and parents/carers involved. I will first set out the goals and objectives to be achieved from our sessions. I like to use student feedback and input on what methods of learning in particular suit them and will incorporate these methods within my teaching. For each lesson, a topic will be pre-decided. A normal session tackling a new topic could consist of mind-maps to begin with to allow the student to demonstrate their existing knowledge and understanding. Leading from this, we will identify gaps in knowledge together and go on to me explaining concepts using diagrams and my own notes. Additionally, I will use past paper questions and demonstrate to students the best way to tackle exam questions and later give them a chance to do so with immediate feedback from me. The typical length of a session will be either 1 or 2 hours and the number of lessons per week is also dependent on the choice of the student. I have past experience as a tutor for biology A level and GCSE and currently have a few students. I have tutored students in Y12, Y13 and GCSE students so am able to adapt my teaching style for various levels and age groups as needed.
