About Stacey

I've taught adult beginners and returning players for over fifteen years. I hold a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music, and I'm a working recording artist with more than 20 million streams on my own piano music.

Most of my career I taught the traditional way: half-hour lessons, one student at a time, in my studio. That experience is what led me here. I watched too many capable adults work hard and stall anyway, and eventually I understood the problem was the format rather than the people in front of me. So I spent years rebuilding how I teach around how adults actually learn.

What I bring to it is classical training and the practical side of being a performer. Technique, reading, and rhythm come from the conservatory side. Knowing how to make a piece sound good, and how to get a song under your hands quickly, comes from the recording side. Adults need both, and they need them at the same time rather than years apart.

I take teaching adults seriously as its own discipline. It is not children's lessons with harder repertoire. Adults arrive with limited time, real self-consciousness, and a specific piece of music they have wanted to play for years, and all three of those change how the teaching has to work.

About the lesson

I teach adults. Beginners who have never touched a piano, and returning players who took lessons years ago and never got where they wanted to go.

A traditional 30-minute lesson spends the first ten minutes fixing last week and the last twenty on something new. That works out to twenty minutes of new material a week, and six days on your own hoping you are practicing it right. I taught that way for over a decade and watched hard-working adults stall on it. It was the format, not them.

So I built a day-by-day plan instead. About twenty minutes a day, already laid out, so you never sit down wondering what to practice. Reading, rhythm and technique are woven into real pieces rather than taught as separate drills, which is why they actually stick.

Week one is a good example of how it runs. Day one you play your first song one hand at a time. Day two is rhythm from the ground up. Day three you read music for the first time. By day four you are playing with both hands together.

What sets it apart is the personal feedback I give my students. You send me video of yourself playing and I record my answer: what your hands are doing, what is holding you back, and exactly what to fix next. Mistakes get fixed sooner and students progress faster.

We also meet for live lessons, where you can bring whatever is still stuck.

These lessons are for adult beginners and returning players, at any age, who want to play music that actually sounds good. The one thing I do not teach is jazz.
