About Zaina

My name is Zaina, I am 19 years old and I am a UBC Education student majoring in English with a strong passion for teaching. Since I am planning to become a teacher, I am deeply committed to helping students grow and succeed, and I always come prepared, organized, and ready to support each child’s needs.

I also have previous tutoring experience, which has helped me explain concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles. I am patient, reliable, and focused on creating a positive and respectful learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.

About the lesson

As a UBC Education student majoring in English, I create lessons that are clear, supportive, and tailored to each child’s needs. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adjust my teaching style to match their pace and help them feel comfortable and confident.

A typical lesson begins with a short review, then we focus on one important skill such as grammar, paragraph writing, reading comprehension, or essay structure. I explain concepts in simple steps and practice together with the student through guided exercises and writing activities. I give helpful feedback and show students how to improve their work on their own.

What makes my approach different is that I focus on building real understanding and confidence, not just finishing homework. My lessons are designed for Kindergarten to Grade 8 students who need extra support or want to strengthen their English skills. My rate is $20 per hour.
