About Dylan
Hi, I'm Dylan, a 4th year Medicine student at the University of Edinburgh. Alongside my studies, I've spent the past year working as a Teaching Fellow, helping students prepare for medical school applications, including UCAT and personal statement — so I've seen first-hand what actually makes a difference when it comes to improving performance under exam conditions.
I sat the UCAT myself and know how daunting the whole process can feel, from the pressure of the test itself to the uncertainty of not knowing where to focus your preparation. My aim is to break that down into something manageable — pinpointing exactly where you're losing marks and building a clear, practical plan to fix it, so you walk into the exam feeling prepared rather than anxious.
My academic background includes:
3 x A at Advanced Higher (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry)
6 x A at Higher, including 100% in Mathematics
Distinctions in both Year 1 and Year 2 of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, including the Cunningham Memorial Prize in Anatomy
1st Class Honours in my intercalated BSc (Sports Science Medicine)
3060 in the UCAT, with a Band 1 SJT

Techniques & Teaching Methodology:
Rather than working through generic practice questions, I focus on identifying the specific areas where marks are commonly lost or time is being wasted, and building targeted strategies to address those weak points. Careful review of errors plays a key role in this — working out why a particular answer was wrong tends to teach more than simply doing another set of questions. Building on this, we develop leaner, more efficient methods for each section, aimed at raising both accuracy and speed together.
Lesson Length:
Sessions generally run between 45 minutes and an hour, adjusted depending on the topic and the student's preferred pace of learning.
Qualifications & Experience:
I'm currently a 4th year Medicine student at the University of Edinburgh. I scored 3060 on the UCAT, including a Band 1 SJT, and completed my intercalated degree with 1st Class Honours. Alongside this, I've spent a year tutoring UCAT, which has given me practical insight into the areas students most often find difficult and how best to work through them.
