About Utso
I'm a current UCL Economics student with 7s (A* equivalent) in both Maths and Economics at IB, and an A in my Economics Extended Essay, scoring 30/34. I've taught Maths to students from Year 7 through Year 13 through my school's Maths Club, and helped run revision sessions for Economics, so I know how to explain things clearly at every level, not just my own. I take preparation seriously: if you send me your doubts or questions ahead of a session, I'll come prepared with a clear, thorough explanation rather than figuring it out on the spot. My approach is built on active thinking rather than passive watching, because that's genuinely how these subjects are learnt, and it's how I'd want to be taught myself. I'm offering the first session completely free, so there's no risk in finding out if this works for you.

Why tutor with me
I sat these exact exams a few years ago, not a decade ago. I know the specific places students get stuck in Maths and Economics because I was recently stuck there myself, and I know which explanations actually land versus which ones sound good on paper but leave you more confused. That's the advantage of a young tutor done well: I'm close enough to your level to know exactly what's tripping you up, and far enough ahead to fix it.
First session free
I offer the first lesson free, no obligation. Come with a real problem or doubt and see how I teach before committing to anything.
My approach
Maths and Economics are subjects you learn by thinking, not by watching someone else solve problems, so that's how I teach. In sessions, you talk me through your methodology and reasoning on novel problems, rather than watching me work through them on a board. I focus on identifying where your thinking goes wrong (or right) in real time, and challenge you with new problems to test whether your understanding actually holds up, not just whether you can repeat a method you've memorised.
Class time is also where doubts get sorted out properly. If you've hit a sticking point while working through questions on your own, bring it to the session, and if you can send it over beforehand, even better. That gives me time to prepare a thorough, precise explanation rather than thinking on the spot.
Routine practice and consolidation happen as homework between sessions, using notes and topic questions I've built from my own time as a student. That way, our time together is spent on the harder part: thinking clearly under pressure, the way you'll actually need to in an exam.
Experience
I've taught Maths to students from Year 7 through Year 13 (GCSE, A-Level and IB) through my school's Maths Club, breaking down challenging problems for a wide range of abilities. For Economics, I helped run revision sessions and homework clubs as a strong performer in the subject myself. I also achieved an A in my Economics Extended Essay, scoring 30/34, a rare result, so I can support students working on their own EE or EPQ in Economics, including topic selection, structuring an argument, and meeting the research and evaluation criteria examiners look for. I'm currently a UCL Economics student.
Lessons and availability
Sessions run up to 1.5 hours. I'd suggest 2 sessions a week for steady progress, or up to 4 for students preparing intensively for exams. Online or in person, I'm happy to meet around London. GCSE, A-Level and IB students, Year 7 through Year 13, including EE/EPQ support for Economics.
This leads with the USP, makes the free session a hook right under it, then backs everything up with the methodology and credentials. Let's fold a credibility anchor straight into the opening line.
