About Maryam
I’m a self-certified foodie and love both baking and cooking and the science behind the art. I love reading, particularly Greek-inspired or mystery novels, and as I’ve gotten older I’ve started to develop an appreciation for gardening and growing - although unfortunately I’m still quite bad at keeping plants alive. I absolutely love space, and photography, and hope to combine those soon by treating myself to a big telescope to explore the sky myself. I wanted to become a tutor because I didn’t receive the help I needed as a student; the tutors I did work with were either not passionate or just passing time for the pay and they didn’t add any value onto my own work. This made me passionate in being an honest and hardworking tutor for new students.

My teaching style is adaptable to the students' needs. I don’t believe in enforcing my own learning methods but working with the student to find out what works best for them depending on what kind of learner they are. I will often start a lesson with a mini quiz of a couple of questions to either recap a previous topic or gain knowledge on the confidence level with a new topic. I like to hand the reins over to the student once we have learnt a new topic and let them lead through questions or explaining back to me, encouraging them to develop their own learning while still being there to fall back on when they struggle. At the end of a lesson, I will usually ask the student what they want to cover next time so I can prepare in advance and if there were any changes they’d make to the lesson we completed.
