About Anna
My name is Anna, and I'm currently in my second year of an English and American Literature degree at the University of East Anglia. I've always loved reading and writing, and I am passionate about English.
After finishing my A-Levels and securing three A*s, I took a gap year and worked as an English teaching assistant in my local secondary school. It was there that I discovered my passion for teaching. I worked with students from year 7-11, helping them to grow in confidence and build their skills.

For the past two years, I have worked as an English teaching assistant in a secondary school. In this role, I worked with students of all abilities, helping less confident students to secure their passes, and pushing top-set student to achieve the highest grades. I worked as support in a classroom, and ran interventions for small groups of students. This, combined with my 1.5 years of personal tutoring, means I know how important it is to tailor lessons to students.
The first thing I always do with a new student is sit down with them and work out the most valuable ways we could use our time together. We will have a conversation about how they feel about the subjects and build a plan of action from then. As well as improving skills and building knowledge of texts and question types, I also focus on building students’ confidence. English is as much about knowledge and writing ability as the self-confidence to trust themselves!
I will then provide tailored and detailed lesson plans. As I get to know the student better, we may change teaching style, depending on how they work best. Whether it be making essay plans, doing practice papers, or learning in a more formal ‘lecture style’, I have it all covered.
